01 / Why This Works
Strong case performance comes from structuring, not recall.
Every case guide gives you the same starting case interview frameworks: profitability, market entry, market sizing. Memorize them and you can recite a shape. But interviewers deliberately give you problems that don't fit the textbook version, and when your memorized framework doesn't match the case, you freeze. What actually gets you through the interview is the underlying skill: taking any unfamiliar problem and building a MECE issue tree for it, live, from a blank page.
02 / The Core Skill
MECE frameworks, issue trees, and how to structure a case.
MECE frameworks
Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive: splitting a problem so no branch overlaps another and nothing is left out. It's the standard every case answer is judged against.
Issue trees
The visual structure MECE thinking produces: a root question, split into branches, split again until each one is small enough to answer.
Case structuring
Taking the prompt an interviewer gives you and turning it into an issue tree, out loud, before you ever reach for a number.
03 / Practice
Start from a real case prompt, or a blank canvas.
Each starter drops in a complete, MECE issue tree for that case type — root question, every branch, three levels deep — already there for you to adapt, push further, and make your own. Drag branches to reorganize, flag the gaps you haven't answered yet, and export the finished structure as text once it's clean.

05 / FAQ
FAQ
Do I need to memorize case interview frameworks?
No. Relying on memorized frameworks is actually a common way to fail a case. Interviewers give you problems that don't fit a textbook framework exactly, and reciting one anyway is easy to spot. What works is knowing how to structure a problem from scratch, using MECE thinking, so you can build the right tree for whatever's in front of you.
What is MECE?
MECE stands for Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive: a way of splitting a problem into parts that don't overlap and don't leave anything out. It's the core discipline behind every well-structured issue tree, and the standard consultants at McKinsey, BCG, and Bain use to judge how you think.
What's the difference between a framework and an issue tree?
A framework (like 'profitability = revenue − cost') is a starting shape. An issue tree is what you build when you take that starting shape and break it down, branch by branch, into the specific questions that answer your case. Frameworks give you a first branch; building the tree is the actual skill being tested.
How is Meceify different from reading case interview guides?
Guides show you someone else's finished structure. Meceify gives you a blank canvas and makes you build your own, which is closer to what actually happens in an interview, where no one hands you a framework. Practicing the construction, not just the reading, is what makes the pattern stick.
Is Meceify free to use for case prep?
Yes. You can build and practice trees without an account. Sign in only if you want to save your practice trees and come back to them later.
Has the case content been reviewed by anyone with real MBB experience?
Yes. The case content is used and validated by experts and interviewers from McKinsey, BCG, and Bain. Meceify itself is an independent tool and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by these firms.
